While I enjoy the written word very much, my dry wit does not seem to be conveying very well and my long-winded explanations about why games are my favorite thing in the world are losing people’s interest. Hence, I’m tempted to try something slightly different: camerablogging.
I’m going to do an experiment and see how well my wit and analysis translate to video. I may be putting a video critique up on YouTube sometime within the next couple of months (it will be embedded in here – you do not need to leave my abode for your viewing comfort) and hopefully it will be interesting, entertaining, funny and far less daunting than my usual six-to-eight paragraphs of large words.
However, to do this, I will need a rather high quality webcam. I am currently looking at this one. It is affordable, really nice and if I don’t end up being good on video then I can always use it for recording home-made pornography and selling it to media companies (I jest, I jest, please, no outrage!).
Any suggestions, opinions, or cries of outrage are welcome!

Quantic Dream released video to go with those screenshots it released of its new and improved, dermatologist-approved, motion capturing, Uncanny-Valley-bridging graphical engine for Heavy Rain: The Origami Killer, its upcoming [PS3 Exclusive?] next-gen title.
My eyes almost popped out of my head as I watched hers dart around the room.

I’m really excited about what Quantic’s going to do with this game. I’ve had people talk to me irritably about the PS3′s expense versus the quality of games that were coming out for it. Well, the wait is almost over, my skeptical friends. You know how Dark Cloud is such lousy graphical quality compared to Final Fantasy XII? Yeah. That’s kind of what like Heavy Rain will be in comparison to Resistance: Fall of Man.
This is on a whole other scope of visuals. This is universes away from what we’re used to. Resistance 2 may not even achieve this level of sheer visual near-photorealism.
In other news, new Ico 3 artwork has been released. There’s only one image, but that one image indicates that “Codename Ico 3″ is actually going to happen, which is exciting–especially after Shadow of the Colossus. There’s a lot of people who have mixed feelings about that game, so I’m glad Team ICO gets another chance to prove their worth.

I was shocked to find this video at around 3 AM in the morning.
I didn’t even have to look too much into it to realize it was fake. Mario and Luigi are just ridiculously oblong, and the physics are weird.
This is the higher res (and truth-telling) version of the hoax video made by Psychothriller, a Spaniard, the creator of the Nintendo On! Hoax video. If you watch closely, you’ll spot the Nintendo On! Making a cameo.
It was simply a project he endeavored to do in order to try to recreate the visual look of Mario Galaxy and try to emulate that in a Nintendo DS style format of gameplay. He did it rather impressively.
[Edit] Seeing as the video is being ungodly and won’t load (I suspect Stage6) I suggest people wanting to see it simply click on the link, unless you have internet that surpasses the speed of light.

GayGamer (such an invaluable source of information) informed me of a 25-minute video of the beta functions for Home uploaded to Gametrailers, which I watched all the way through, ecstatic.
I’m looking forward to Home like children look forward to Christmas.
But I need a PS3 before then.
I haven’t posted in a while because I’ve been playing Rock Band, FFXII when not at work. So sue me, work is exhausting. I’ll get a vacation soon and I’ll be able to get around to it. That, and all the other little projects I’ve been asked to do–help with homework, developer commissions (I’m actually getting jobs outside my job–I feel so amazing). I have a huge update soon. And when cool things stop happening, I’ll be able to talk about M.U.L.E.
I promise.
Also, LittleBigWorld movie. I was so magically absorbed by the cuteness of this game that I looked for GDC demos part 1 and part 2 so I could see more of it. I’m enchanted by this game. I want it so bad. It looks like a wonderful, mindless waste of time.
(Why is my Youtube in Spanish? Ugh.)
I’m slowly turning into a casual gamer.

The Swedish developers of Battlefield: Bad Company released a developer interview video that outlines some of the key features of the Frostbite engine they created. It’s funny, though it skips over a lot of the details. I kind of wish they would go into more depth on how the engine works.
But anyway, it’s fascinating to watch, and I’m glad to see the PS3 and 360 used to a higher potential that has been done before.
